e-receipts

THE SOLUTION

The purpose of this project is to address the problem of inefficiencies due to paper receipts at businesses worldwide. Thirty five percent of Americans have smart phones and that number is growing at a fast pace, with an ever growing number of apps and phones available. The user experience we want to accomplish is to have an improved shopping experience, not collecting paper receipts when shopping, but instead e-receipts which will transfer both cash and visa purchases to their phone. From the phone the information will be sent over 4G to our servers. This will greatly reduce paper usage, increase corporate efficiency and serve as friendly to the environment The transfer of information would implement Bluetooth, and at each terminal we will produce a device that will be flat and thin which the user will place their mobile phone and can transfer information within a 1/2 foot radius. The consumer can login to their online UI which would be secured by VeriSign and Truste and enter their phone's Bluetooth password information..

Sounds great, maybe QR codes on your iphone can store receipt information as well.

It would be cool if the receipt could just be sent to an app on your phone and you could tag or categorize them based on when /where they were from. I would also like an auto-delete feature for old receipts whose total was under a certain amount. It could also connect with mint.com or another budgeting site so you could budget and view receipts all in the same place. I think the challenge here is getting the receipts onto your phone without paper and without having to implement too new or complex technology in registers.
